Class Notes and What to Do if you Missed Last Week's Writing Class

If you missed the class last week, do this:

1Answer the nine questions below using your own information.

      Follow the rules called “How we will write” below.

3Get a piece of writing paper from Patrick next class.

r   Write  your story.

5.                    This is worth 10% of your final exam.

6.                    Remember that attendance is worth 10% of your final exam too. Every class you miss, I deduct 2% from your final grade.

 

 

 

 

We have to do one writing paper each semester. This is NOT my idea. The university wants you to do it. Writing is 10% of your final grade. Today’s class is 10% of your final grade.  Rules for writing.

 

Nine Questions:

First, just interview a classmate. Write down his/her answers with a complete sentence.

1. What is your first name and surname?

2. What is your hometown? How is it? 

3. How often do you go online? Approximately (about) how many hours per day?

4. What device do you normally use to get online?

5. What is your favorite website? How come (why)?

6. Do you prefer social media websites or movie and music websites? Other?

7. What kinds of stuff do you like to buy online?

8. Do you ever feel you are addicted to the Internet? If so, how can you solve the problem?

9. Did your parents have any rules for using the Internet?

10. Concluding sentence. Write the last sentence telling your opinion. Opinion. I truly believe, in my opinion, Finally, I feel that,

How will we write?

1. Write two paragraphs. Each paragraph is five or more sentences.

2. Indent each paragraph.

       I went to the ocean last week. When I was there, I had squid.

3. Explain: because, why, therefore

4. Use some transitions words. Do not use a lot: therefore, furthermore, however, nonetheless

5. Do not use contractions. Contractions are for talking, not writing.

       My partner was Sharon Liu. She comes

surrounded by the Rocky Mountains. Sharon usually uses the Internet for 12 hours a day.

Rules: One student reads the sentence. The other student writes the sentence under the correct picture.
