If your friend is sad, you make them

happier. This is called “cheer up.”

The Night of the Fight, You Might Feel a Slight Sting

What does the basement represent in The Sixth Sense?

I said hell. Why does the psychiatrist keep going down there?

He feels guilty that he could not help the man that committed suicide. I think he believes he belongs in hell.

The door is normally locked when he is a ghost. Somehow the protagonist opens it, but we do not see keys. After, we see someone pushed a table in front of the door. The reason the ghost can’t see the table is it was not there when he was alive. I said it was a religious movie. The church represents safety, so this is also goodness. I think God maybe locked that door. He does not blame the psychiatrist and wants him to let his guilt to evaporate.

666 is the sign of the beast (Devil)

There is a myth in literature about going to the crossroads to make a deal with the devil. The devil gives you whatever you want. Usually it is fame, talent or money. When they get old and die, the devils gets their soul.

“The night of the fight, you may feel a slight sting.”

Literally it means to get hit or punched.

Metaphorically it means the shame of losing.

“That’s pride fuc&^%$ with you.” Psychological game.

“Paying homage to” is when a director copies a famous scene from another

movie to show respect to that director and his/her work. This is to Stanley Kubrik’s A Clockwork Orange.

You’re square means you are not cool. I was talking before about opening credits. They do more than tell the cast or producer, director, etc. They set the tone and make the movie memorable. Tarantino pays homage to Saturday Night Fever.

I am going to powder my nose. I means “I am going to use the restroom.”
